Folegandros Beaches

Agali

Agali beach is located in a small settlement about 4 kilometer from Chora in the picturesque Vathi Bay. The beach is a popular choice because of the easy accessible from the main road and is a long sandy beach ideal for families. The word Angali means "To Hug" in greek and it is quite appropriate as the huge rocks in the area appear to be hugging the beach. There are several footpaths from Agali beach leading to different other beaches like Fira beach, Galyfos beach and Agios Nikolaos beach. All the beaches are smaller and more secluded. There are also boat excursions from Agali beach to the nearby beaches.

Chochlidia

Chochlidia beach is the main beach of Karavostasi village facing the port of the island. The beach is a stone beach with very easy access. The water is crystal clear and it is a perfect beach for swimming. There are many trees surrounding the beach area that provide shade from the sun.

Agios Georgios

Agios Georgios beach is located on the northern part of the island and is accessible through a dirt road from Ano Meria. This beach is subject to strong winds and it is always wisely to check the weather report before you go there. Agios Georgios is a mostly sandy beach with crystalline blue water. Some pine trees give a bit shadow from the sun.

Ambeli

Ambeli is one of the more popular small beaches on the island. The beach is a pebble beach with rock formations embracing the small beach. The water is clear and it is a nice spot for snorkling. Many people look at the sunset from Ambeli beach. It is an ideal beach to visit when the winds are blowing from the north. You can reach the beach by boat or by walking on foot. The footpath that starts from Agios Panteleimonas Church and it will take about 30 minutes to reach the beach.

Ligaria beach is one of the less explored beaches. It is a secluded beach almost completely preserved in its natural beauty. The pebbled beach is located near the village of Ano Meria. You can either walk down to the beach through a footpath or join one of the excursion boats.

Livadi Beach is located in a small agricultural settlement about 1,2 kilometers from Karavostasis village and port. The beach is a popular choice because of the easy accessible from the main road and protection from almost all winds. It is a long, sandy beach with beautiful water.

Vardia beach is located on the east part of Karavostasi village separated from the port with a colorful rock. The beach is one of the most popular family beaches on the island. It is ideal for the people who stay in the neighbourhood, since it is easy and convenient access via a ladder. The beach offers comfortable sand and nice spots in the shade.

Latinaki

Latinaki is a small sandy beach overlooking Karavostasis village and port accessable by staircases. To reach the beach you have to pass by Chochlidia beach through the coastline and follow the main road to Livadi. The walk takes about 10 minutes.

Vitsentou

Vitsentou beach is located about 1 kilometer away from Karavostasis village and port. To go here you have to pass by Chochlidia and follow the main road to Livadi. From the main road you find the access to the beach via a walkingpath. The smaller beach is a good choice when the wind is blowing from south.

Pountaki

The Pountaki beach is located about 1 kilometer away from Karavostasis village and port. To go here you have to pass by Chochlidia beach and follow the main road to Livadi. From the main road you find the access to the beach via a steep walkingpath. The beach is located in beautful sceneries with colorful rocks around and the water is crystal clear. It is an ideal beach when the wind is blowing from south.

Katergo

Katergo beach is maybe the most beautiful beach of Folegandros but also at the same time the most “wild” beach due to the difficult access by foot and the lack of shade from the sun. Therefore remember to bring water and supplies for shade. The beach has crystalclear water and has a unique scenery with the rock formations rising from the sea. The easiest way to access the beach is by boat from Karavostasis port. If you like to walk you can walk along the footpath that starts from Livadi village. The walk will take about 30 minutes.

Vorina

The name Vorina means "north" in greek and it is a beach exposed to northern winds because it is located on the north side of the island facing Sifnos island. The access to the beach is through a steep footpath that starts after Agia Paraskevi church on the main road from Chora to Ano Meria. The walk will take around 20 minutes. The ideal weather is during the southern winds. Remember to bring at least water to enjoy Vorina beach.
