Folegandros Villages

Chora

The traditional settlement of Chora is located at an altitude of about 200 meters above sea level. Chora is an authentic and traditional village and it is the most picturesque village of Folegandros. The village is full of white houses that are built around the narrow streets and green squares. There are plenty of restaurants and cafees in the village. Find your own peaceful place and relax in the shadow provided by the trees. Chora is one of the oldest medieval settlements in the Cycladic islands. The remains of the castle and other constructions can be found in Chora and they are all built close to one another. All vehicles are prohibited in Chora which create a relaxing atmosphere and makes it easy to walk around.

Karavostasi

Karavostasi is the village of the port of Folegandros. Here you find hotels, restaurants, cafees, supermarkets and a bakery. The main beach in Karavostasis area is named Chochlidia. The port connects the island with Athens and the other Cycladic islands. There are boats from Karavostasis that make various excursions to beaches around the island.

Ano Meria

The second largest village with only 350 inhabitants in Folegandros is Ano Meria. The village is located to the northwestern part of the island. It is an authentic agricultural village which is surrounded by green fields. The agricultural and animal breeding still dominates the lifestyle in the village. There are some cozy tavernas in Ano Meria.
