Kleftiko

Kleftiko has almost become the trademark of Milos because of the picturesque sceneries. Kleftiko is an impressive area with huge rock formations located on the southwestern part of the island. The rough nature has created the rocks rising from the sea, forming natural caves and rare geological phenomena. Kleftiko is also known as "The Sea Meteora". The legend says that one of the caves in Kleftiko was used as a pirate hideaway. The water in Kleftiko is crystalclear and many people go swimming and snorkling in the caves. Kleftiko can only be reached by boat.

Sarakiniko

Sarakinko is an area with one of the most impressive landscapes of Milos, located on the northeastern part of the island. People claim the landscape to look like the moonscape because of the wild, vulcanic rock formations and no vegetation around. The rocks eroded by time with the salt water and have created amazing caves and lagoons. There is a small, peaceful beach at Sarakiniko but most of all you visit the area because of the beautiful rocks and crystalclear water which make the area great for swimming and snorkeling. If you go snorkeling don't miss to explore the shipwreck close by. The ship crashed into the rocks during a storm in 2003. Sarakiniko is a very picturesque area with the entirely white rocks shining bright next to the deepblue water. The place is named after the Saracene pirates who used the place as a base. The beach is not organized.

Firiplaka

Firiplaka is a larger beach located next to Tsigrado beach on the southern part of Milos. The beach has an impressive scenery because of the huge colorful, vulcanic rock forming the coastline. The shallow water is magical here with its green blue color. The beach is divided into two parts by a huge rock which has been detached from the mountain. The first part of the beach is organized with a beach bar and sunbeds.

Paliochori

Paliochori is a beach with beautiful vulcanic landscape, located on the southern part of the island. The beach is almost 2 kilometers long and is divided into three smaller beaches surrounded by a huge vulcanic rock in various colors. Here the crystalclear water reaches the shore with dark sand and small, colored pebbles. The water is warm in several spots due to the underwater mineral springs. Paliochori is a great beach for sunbathing and swimming. A part of the beach is organized and offers sunbeds and umbrellas.

Tsigrado

Tsigrado is a small, sandy cove with crystalclear water, located next to Firiplaka beach on the southern part of Milos. The beach is beautiful with white sand and crystalclear water. The surrounding environment with the rocky cliffs is quite impressive. The beach is rather difficult to access through a rocky path. The beach is not organized.

Agia Kyriaki

Agia Kyriaki is a beautiful beach located at the end of a dirt road on the southern part of Milos. The beach covers a larger coastline with sand and white pebbles and crystalclear water in a wild, rocky landscape. The beach is a great choice to do watersports. Nearby beaches like Psarovolada and Kalamos are reachable with canoes. The beach is organized with sunbeds, umbrellas and several restaurants and beach bars. You find Agia Kyriaki by following the road after Zefyria village.

Provatas

The beautiful larger beach of Provatas is located at the southwestern part of Milos. The beach is known by the goldenreddish sand and shallow water, suitable for young children. The beach is organized with sunbeds and umbrellas. There is a settlement built around the beach which offers several restaurants with particularly good fresh fish.

Gerakas

Gerakas is an impressive spot on the island with a rocky geological formation surrounding the small beach. The water is perfectly crystalclear and during summer it is easy to enjoy a swim in the rocky and abrupt landscape. The beach is located on the southern part of Milos and can only be reached by boat.

Papafragas

Papafragas area has a couple of deep caves by the sea interconnected by an underpass. Inside the caves there are circular rock formations. From the top of the rock it resembles a huge natural swimming pool. A tiny footpath you need to use with great caution leads to the tiny strip of sand that forms the small beach. The caves and the beautiful, clear water that changes colors due to weather and light makes it an excellent spot for snorkeling. Papafragas was used in the past as a pirate base and is named after a Catholic priest who used the cave to moor his boat.

Paliorema & Sulfur Mines

Paliorema is a nice, smaller beach with a great option to get a view of the old sulphur mines of Milos. The sea around the shore is deep and was used as a pier where ships were loaded with sulfur and other minerals from the mines. The old sulphur mines used to work in the past and had a large number of workers. The workers used to stay in Paliorema for the whole week and went only home to their families during weekends, crossing the island by foot. The buildings and rails still stand as a live museum but have been abandoned since they stopped working in the late 60's. It is not easy to reach Paliorema since the access by road is through a dirt road from Zefyria village and ends above the mines. From here you have to walk about 500 meters on a path. It is more suitable to go by boat.

Agios Ioannis

Agios Ioannis is a nice, secluded beach area on the southwestern part of Milos. Actually there are three beaches. If you arrive by the dirt road you reach the southern beach. In order to reach the other two beaches you need to swim or go by boat. The beach most far away to the north is very impressive with high white cliffs. The Monastery of Agios Ioannis Siderianos is located on a hill above the beach from where the beach got its name. The beaches are not organized.

Sikia

Sikia, also known as the blue cave, is a cave of unique natural beauty in the southwestern part of the island. A huge vulcanic rock in white and black colors embrace the cave of Sikia. As you go inside the cave you will see it does not have a roof. Instead of darkness, you will find a colorful and shining cave where the sun illuminates the crystalclear water. Inside the cave you also find a small beach. You can visit the cave only by boat.
